Debt Payoff
Planner
The privacy policy for Debt Payoff Planner (com.rombastudio.debt), an Android app by Romba Studio. Your debts, balances, interest rates and logged payments are processed and stored only on your device.
The short version
Your debts never leave your phone.
The only information that goes anywhere is what Google's ad service needs to show a banner ad, plus anonymous usage statistics and crash reports. Where the law gives you the right to refuse, the app asks first and honours your answer — and the app keeps working either way. Your theme and a small settings file do travel with Android backup; your balances and payments never do.

Who we are
This policy covers the Android app Debt Payoff Planner (package com.rombastudio.debt), published by Romba Studio.

What stays on your device
Everything you enter is processed on your phone and stored only on your phone:
- your debts — the name, balance, interest rate (APR) and minimum payment of each
- every payment you log, and the dates you logged them
- your payoff plan: the method you chose, your extra payment, and your projected debt-free date
- your reminders, and your app settings (theme, currency, language)
We never upload any of it. There is no account, no sign-in and no server. We cannot see your debts, and we could not hand them to anyone if we were asked, because we do not have them. The calculator works with the phone in airplane mode.
This data is stored in the app's private storage. Uninstalling the app deletes all of it.

About Android’s automatic backup
The app allows Android’s backup, but only for a named, exhaustive list:
- Backed up to your Google account
- Your theme choice, and your small settings file — onboarding state, payoff method, extra payment and currency.
- Never backed up, never transferred
- Your debts and payments database. Balances, interest rates, payments and payoff dates are excluded by construction — not by a setting that could be forgotten. They are never copied to your Google Drive and never sent to a new phone by device transfer.
This is why we say your debts stay on this phone rather than nothing leaves this phone: your app settings genuinely do travel to your own Google account, as they do for most Android apps. We would rather be exact than flattering.
- 04
Exporting your own data
The app can export your debts and payments to a CSV file, and import one back. That file goes only where you choose to save it — your device, your Drive, wherever you point the file picker. We never see it and it is never sent to us.
Once you have exported a file, it is yours to look after: anyone with access to it can read your balances.
- 05
What is collected, and by whom
The app is free, with every feature unlocked, and is funded by advertising — a banner beside your plan and at most one full-screen ad per session. Advertising is provided by Google AdMob. To serve ads, Google may collect and use:
- your device's advertising identifier
- approximate location, derived from your IP address (country/region level — not your precise position)
- ad interactions, such as which ads were shown and whether they were tapped
This is collected by Google, not by us. We receive only aggregate, non-identifying earnings reports. We never receive your data, and we never sell anything to anyone.
Google’s handling of this data is governed by its own policies — Google Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy and How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services: https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites
- 06
Usage statistics, crash reports and performance data
To understand which features are used and to find and fix crashes and slowness, the app uses Google Firebase — specifically Firebase Analytics, Firebase Crashlytics and Firebase Performance Monitoring. What this involves:
- It is off until you have answered the consent form. Where the law requires consent (including the EEA, the UK and Switzerland), no usage, crash or performance data is collected before you answer, and none is collected if you decline. Elsewhere it is on by default.
- Declining stops all three. Analytics, crash reporting and performance monitoring are switched together by your answer to the consent form — there is no separate setting that could disagree with it. You can change your answer at any time in Settings → Ad privacy options, and doing so takes effect immediately.
- What is collected is anonymous usage and diagnostic data — for example that a payoff plan was viewed, that a payment was logged, that the snowball or avalanche method was chosen, that an export happened, plus crash stack traces and app start-up timing. Google processes it on our behalf and may associate it with your device’s identifiers as described in its own policies.
Your financial figures are never part of it. No balance, interest rate, payment amount, payoff date, monthly budget or debt name is ever sent. Where a count is useful we send a range rather than a number — "2–3 debts", never "you have 3 debts totalling $14,208". The app is built so that a financial figure cannot become part of an analytics event.
- 07
Your choice about advertising
Where the law requires it (including the EEA, the UK and Switzerland), the app asks for your consent before any personalized advertising, using Google’s User Messaging Platform. The form offers Consent, Do not consent, and Manage options for per-purpose control.
If you decline, you will not be shown personalized ads. You may still see non-personalized ads, which do not use your advertising identifier for profiling. Declining does not limit any feature of the app.
You can change your answer at any time in the app: Settings → Ad privacy options. That row appears only where a consent form legally exists — elsewhere Google shows no form and there is nothing to reopen. Everyone, everywhere, can read this policy from Settings → Privacy policy.
You can also reset or delete your advertising identifier entirely from outside the app, in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads.
- 08
If you live in the United States
Residents of US states with applicable privacy laws — including California (CCPA/CPRA), Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia and others — can opt out of the sale or sharing of their personal information for targeted advertising. The app presents Google’s US states privacy message for this purpose, offering "Don’t sell or share my data".
We do not sell personal information for money in any event; the opt-out covers "sharing" for advertising as those laws define it.
- 09
Permissions the app uses
- INTERNET, ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE
- To load ads and, with your consent, send anonymous usage statistics and crash reports. The payoff calculator itself does not use the internet.
- POST_NOTIFICATIONS
- To show your payment reminders. Asked only when you switch a reminder on.
- WAKE_LOCK, FOREGROUND_SERVICE
- Used by Android’s WorkManager to deliver a scheduled reminder reliably.
- AD_ID / ACCESS_ADSERVICES_*
- Added by the Google Mobile Ads SDK to access the advertising identifier.
Your reminders are generated on your phone. They are not push notifications; nothing is sent from a server, and we do not know when one fires or what it says.
The app never requests location, contacts, storage, phone state, or the list of apps installed on your device.
- 10
Data deletion
There is no account and we hold no copy of your debts, so there is nothing for us to delete on our side — and no record we could return to you if you asked. To remove everything associated with this app:
- Delete individual debts and payments inside the app. Note that archiving a debt is not deleting it — an archived debt disappears from your plan and your list, but its record stays in the app’s private database on your phone so your history stays intact.
- Uninstall the app to erase everything. Long-press the app icon, or open Android Settings → Apps → Debt Payoff Planner, and choose Uninstall. This permanently deletes all locally stored data: debts, balances, interest rates, logged payments, your payoff plan, reminders and settings — including archived debts.
- Withdraw your consent in Settings → Ad privacy options, where it is offered. That single answer governs advertising, analytics, crash reporting and performance monitoring together.
- Reset or delete your advertising identifier in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads.
- Delete any file you exported yourself. A CSV export lives wherever you saved it and is outside the app’s control — remove it from your device or Drive if you no longer want it.
- Ask us anything you are unsure about. Email contact@rombastudio.com and we will respond.
No server-side data exists. Romba Studio operates no account system and no server that receives your debts or payments, so there is no stored copy of them to request or erase.
- 11
Children
This app is a financial tool intended for adults (18+). It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect any data from children.
- 12
Not financial advice
The app provides estimates for educational and informational purposes only. It is not financial, credit, tax or legal advice, and it is not a debt settlement, debt consolidation or credit repair service. We are not a lender, a broker or a credit counsellor.
Projections assume fixed interest rates, on-time payments and no new borrowing. Your real payoff date and total interest will differ if any of those change, and lenders calculate interest in ways that vary by product and country. Always check your figures against your lender’s statements.
- 13
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date above changes with it, and the updated policy is published at this address. Material changes affecting how data is handled will also be noted in the app's release notes.
