Paycheck Calculator:
Net Pay
The privacy policy for Paycheck Calculator: Net Pay (com.rombastudio.paycheckcalculator), an Android app by Romba Studio. Your wages, W-4 entries and saved profiles are processed and stored only on your device.
The short version
Your pay data never leaves your phone.
The only information that goes anywhere is what Google's ad service needs to show a banner ad, plus — if you allow it — anonymous usage statistics, crash reports and performance diagnostics. You can refuse both, and change your answer at any time.

Who we are
This policy covers the Android app Paycheck Calculator: Net Pay (package com.rombastudio.paycheckcalculator), published by Romba Studio.

What stays on your device
Everything you type into the calculator is processed on your phone and stored only on your phone:
- your hourly rate, salary, hours and overtime
- your state, pay frequency and W-4 entries (filing status, dependents, extra withholding)
- your pre-tax and post-tax deductions, including 401(k), health insurance, HSA and FSA amounts
- your saved profiles and your app settings
We never upload this. We never transmit it to a server. There are no accounts, no sign-up and no cloud backup. We cannot see it, and we could not hand it over to anyone if we were asked, because we do not have it. The tax calculation itself works with no internet connection at all.
This data is stored in the app's private storage. Uninstalling the app deletes all of it.
It is also excluded from Android's automatic backup: the app sets allowBackup="false" and excludes its database and preferences from cloud backup and device-to-device transfer. Nothing you enter is copied to your Google account. The trade-off is deliberate — if you switch phones, your saved profiles do not come with you.

What is collected, and by whom
The app is funded by a single banner advertisement shown next to your result. Advertising is provided by Google AdMob, together with Google’s User Messaging Platform (UMP) for consent. To serve ads, Google may collect and use:
- your device's advertising identifier
- approximate location, derived from your IP address (country/region level — not your precise position)
- ad interaction data, such as which ads were shown and whether they were tapped
This is collected by Google for advertising purposes, not by us. We receive only aggregate, non-identifying earnings reports. We never receive your data, and we never sell anything to anyone.
Google's handling of this data is governed by its own policies — Google Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy and How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services: https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites

Usage statistics, crash reports and performance data
To understand which features are used and to find and fix crashes and slowness, the app uses Google Firebase — specifically Firebase Analytics, Firebase Crashlytics and Firebase Performance Monitoring. What this involves:
- Firebase Analytics records app-interaction events and device identifiers so we can understand feature usage — for example that a calculation was completed, or that onboarding was finished.
- Firebase Crashlytics records crash logs and stack traces so we can fix stability problems.
- Firebase Performance Monitoring records start-up and rendering performance diagnostics so we can fix slowness.
It is off by default. All Firebase collection is disabled until you have answered the consent form. Where the law requires consent (including the EEA and the UK), no usage, crash or performance data is collected before you consent, and none is collected if you decline.
You can switch it off at any time in Settings → "Usage statistics", wherever you live.
Your pay figures never leave the device. No names, no email addresses and no wage or salary figures are ever logged. Your salary, hourly rate, hours, W-4 answers, deductions and saved profiles are never part of any analytics, crash or performance data — events carry only non-identifying values such as a US state code or a pay frequency. Google processes this data on our behalf and may associate it with your device identifiers as described in its own policies.
- 05
Your choice about advertising
Ad personalization is off by default. Where the law requires it (including the EEA and the UK), the app asks for your consent before any personalized advertising, using Google’s User Messaging Platform (UMP). If you decline, you will not be shown personalized ads. You may still see non-personalized ads, which do not use your advertising identifier for profiling.
You can change your answer at any time in the app: Settings → Ad privacy options. That row appears only where a consent form legally exists (the EEA and the UK) — elsewhere Google shows no form and there is nothing to reopen. Everyone, everywhere, can read this policy from Settings → Privacy.
You can also reset or delete your advertising identifier entirely from outside the app, in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads.
- 06
Permissions the app uses
- INTERNET
- To load ads and, with your consent, send anonymous usage statistics, crash reports and performance diagnostics. The calculator itself does not use it.
- AD_ID / ACCESS_ADSERVICES_AD_ID
- Added by the Google Mobile Ads SDK to access the advertising identifier.
The app never requests location permission. When it pre-selects a state for you, it does so from your device's SIM or locale setting, never from GPS or any location service.
- 07
Data deletion
There is no server-side account to delete, because we never receive your data. To remove everything associated with this app, follow these steps:
- Delete individual saved profiles inside the app — open the app, go to your saved profiles and delete any entry you no longer want. This takes effect immediately.
- Uninstall the app to delete everything stored locally. Long-press the app icon (or open Android Settings → Apps → Paycheck Calculator: Net Pay) and choose Uninstall. This permanently deletes all locally stored data: wages, pay rates, W-4 entries, deductions, saved profiles and settings. You can also choose Storage → Clear storage if you want to wipe the data but keep the app installed.
- Reset or delete your advertising ID in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads → Delete advertising ID (the exact wording varies by manufacturer and Android version). This breaks the link between your device and any advertising profile Google holds.
- Withdraw consent for analytics, crash and performance data in the app at Settings → "Usage statistics" (turn it off), and at Settings → Ad privacy options for advertising, where that form is available.
- Ask us anything you are unsure about. Email contact@rombastudio.com and we will respond. Because no identifiable server-side data about you exists, there is nothing for us to delete on our side — but we will answer any question about what the app does.
No server-side data exists. Romba Studio operates no account system and no server that receives your calculator entries, so there is no stored copy of them to request or erase.
- 08
Children
This app is a financial tool intended for adults (18+). It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect any data from children.
- 09
Not tax advice
The app provides estimates for educational and informational purposes only. It is not tax, legal or financial advice. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the IRS, the Social Security Administration, or any state or local government.
Your actual withholding and take-home pay can differ depending on your employer's payroll system, your benefit elections and local taxes. Always check your results against your real pay stub and official IRS or state guidance.

Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date above changes with it, and the updated policy is published at this address. Material changes affecting how data is handled will also be noted in the app's release notes.
